The Men's Ministry at Oakwood Community Church exists to help men know Christ and grow in their faith. We do this through men's small group Bible studies, as well as occasional events, retreats and service projects. Below are some of the events and opporutnities currently taking place in our men's ministry.
Oakwood hosts a Wild Game Dinner each year in early December, featuring a buffet of delicious, home-cooked wild game, a presentation by a special guest speaker, as well as dozens of valuable door prizes. The 2015 Wild Game Dinner will be held on Saturday, December 5th from 5-8pm and will feature Pastors Chad and James Hampton, founders of Huntin' the Truth Ministries, as our guest speakers.
Established in 2005, Chad and James, travel across the U.S. speaking at events. Their nationally recognized book Secrets of the Hunt is an illustration on how hunting for animals parallels hunting for God. Being identical twins, Chad and James use a unique tag-team approach with a practical, engaging, and humorous presentation style that ministers to hunters and non-hunters alike. In 2016, the created "Twin Factor TV", a hunting reality show on the Pursuit Channel, where they utilize the arena of television to share the love of Jesus Christ and teach people how to hunt for God and find His plan for their lives.
The cost is $10 per person. Online registration is no longer an option, as only a handful of tickets are still available. You can purchase tickets via cash or check through the church office Tuesday through Friday from 9am-5pm, or on Sunday mornings at Oakwood or through the church office. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door.
A group of men meet Monday mornings at 10:00am at Oakwood Community Church. This provides an opportunity to connect with other men and grow in your faith. All men are welcome, so stop by and check it out. Contact Stan Haack if you are interested or have questions.
A couple of times each year, men from Oakwood use their automotive skills to serve others by providing a free auto clinic. Workers donate their time to help people in the church and community with needed car repairs. This has been a huge blessing to many families.
Are you having car problems? Need help? If you have been putting off that repair due to budget constraints, contact Marty McDaniel at 248-627-3107 or firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment. We are able to do most any repair or maintenance. All labor is free, but parts need to be paid for by the vehicle owner. Sorry, no oil changes.
